Utilities & Insurance

Living in a housing company involves certain everyday needs, such as electricity and water. These services are organized differently than in many other countries, and it’s important to understand how responsibilities and costs are shared between the housing company and the residents.

Electricity and water

In most housing companies, each apartment has its own electricity contract, while the company provides electricity for common areas. Water is supplied by the housing company, and charges are usually based on measured consumption or the number of residents if meters are not installed. Shareholders must report the number of occupants to ensure accurate billing.

Insurance

The housing company should have an insurance policy covering for damages and liabilities to the whole of the grounds and buildings owned by the company. This does not cover apartment interiors, personal belongings, or the shareholder’s liabilities.

Thus it is strongly recommended – although not required by law – for the shareholder to sign a personal home insurance policy covering for the interiors and individual possessions or liabilities of the shareholder.

Haku

Kirjoita hakukenttään hakusana tai sen osa. Älä käytä jokerimerkkejä. Tällöin haku etsii kaikki mahdolliset osumat, joista löytyy käyttämäsi kirjainyhdistelmä. Esimerkiksi Tupakointi tai tupak toimivat molemmat hakusanoina.
